Windsor Basketball Game Recap

February 3, 2022
The boys varsity basketball team packed their bags on Monday and traveled to take on the Rocky Hill Terriers. Windsor came into the game sporting a very impressive 12-1 record, with their only loss coming from a controversial buzzer beater against North Catholic at home. This game gives WIndsor a chance to improve their away record to 8-0. On the other end Rocky Hill looks to grab their first win of the season. They came into this game 0-13 and hoped to take advantage of their underdog status to make their first win a big one.
Windsor came out in their patent half court press and caused several early Rocky Hill turnovers. Rashawn Tibby of Windsor High School was the first to get on the board. This was followed by a fastbreak dunk from Tyler Betsey and another easy bucket for Rashawn Tibby which forced Rocky Hills coach to call an early timeout. Windsor continued the pressure through the first quarter and got 6 different players on the score sheet. This earned them a sizable 20-8 lead going into the second.
Windsor kept things rolling to extend on their lead. Tyler Betsey began showing off his scoring prowess after connecting on two straight threes and a clean pull-up jumper. The bench unit didn’t slow down either. Kaiden James and Brandin Rosemand showed their chemistry and put in work on both offense and defense. Johnathan Georges hauled in rebound after rebound tallying 6 going into halftime. This showing gave Windsor a 48-20 lead going into the break.
Windsor came out of half going with a new starting five. They added Kaiden James and Johnny Pierce to go along with Quintin Floyd, Tyler Betsey, and Rashawn Tibby. They picked up where they left off scoring bucket after bucket and getting steal after steal. Tyler Betsey knocked down an early mid-range jumper to start the 3rd quarter off. Betsey also ended the 3rd with a transition dunk and Windsor continued its very impressive defensive showing to force Rocky Hill into a bad shot at the buzzer. Heading into the final stretch Windsor had the lead 68-27.
The 4th quarter wasn’t a much different story from the rest. Windsor kept their foot on the gas at all times and showed no sign of slowing down. Rocky Hill had no answer for the pressure that Windsor brought. The second half was also the Kaiden James show. He tallied 11 of his 15 points in the second half earning him the right to be the games second leading scorer. He also added 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals to go along with his impressive scoring night. Tyler Betsey led Windsor in scoring putting up 22 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, a block and 4 steals. Windsor’s defensive effort was borderline historic as they collected 28 steals overall, with Anthony Williams leading the way with 5 and 4 other players with 4. Jonathan Georges flirted with a double-double dropping 9 points and hauling in 7 boards. The combined efforts of Windsor’s varsity squad earned them a dominant 104-38 W. Windsor stays at home on Friday to take on the 9-5 East Hartford Hornets. Full box score below.
